Natural Habitat

Prefer woodland areas near rivers and streams. Found throughout most of Africa.


Carnivorous - eating mainly small mammals and birds but will eat fruit and insects


Threat Level: Least Concern

The population of the Common Genet is currently stable. However, in some areas body parts are used for medicinal purposes and they are losing habitat in Ibiza. The Common Genet is protected by law in Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.

Safina, our Common Genet is very shy and will often be found sunbathing high up at the top of her enclosure if not she'll be snuggled in her straw bed.
