Fruit and nuts. They have very powerful front teeth that can break the shell on a brazil nut. They are called the gardeners in the Rain Forest as they help propagate the brazil nut tree. 


Threat Level: Data Deficient 

Azara’s Agouti are currently described as “Data Deficient”. They are thought to be at risk in the wild but there is not enough scientific information available at the moment to classify them properly.

Hazel, Tinker and Bell loves to forage at the base of their enclosure looking out for Brazil Nuts and other treats their keeper gives them.
