Outreach Programme

Here at Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens we understand that it is not always possible for you to come to us therefore, we have designed a variety of outreach programmes to ‘bring the zoo to you’.

We offer a range of workshops which are educational and fun or alternatively we can create a bespoke workshop to coincide with different topics you are currently studying.

As part of the outreach programme we offer a selection of workshops to suit your needs.

These workshops work best for groups of up to 20 and last approximately 30-60 minutes depending on the time available.

Workshops include:

The Five Freedoms - How to care for your pet

This workshop involves engaging students with live animals including rabbits, guinea pigs, snakes and reptiles to enable them to care for pets at home.

Animal Adaptation

This workshop involves handling and observing a range of animals to allow students to understand how animals adapt and cope with their environment.

Animal Nutrition

This workshop involves educating students about the range of different food we feed to the animals here at the zoo. We teach them why animals need certain foods and how to provide all the necessary nutrients they require.

Each session includes an introduction to the topic, interactive talk and animal handling.

We will bring one of the following types of animals to each session

  • Snake
  • Reptile
  • Skink
  • Invertebrate

Our prices are affected by the distance we need to travel from the zoo to the venue, please see below for a breakdown of costs
